The 5 Best Auto Repair Shops in Northmoor, Columbus OH (2026)
Northmoor is the pocket west of High Street below Central Clintonville, close enough to everything that most drivers here pick a shop on reputation rather than distance. The shops, ranked
Walt Stein opened this shop as a Sohio station in 1962 and moved it to Oakland Park Avenue in 1970; the Clintonville Historical Society keeps the record. Sixty-four years later, under owner Paul Marquardt, it holds the largest review profile of any shop in Clintonville — 390 Google reviews at 4.6 — and it is the only AAA Approved independent in the neighborhood, approved continuously since 1981. It’s a NAPA AutoCare Gold Center backing repairs with a 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty, and an authorized Jasper engine and transmission installer. The signature is the paperwork: digital inspections with photos of the actual worn part, which is what reviewers keep writing about.
A tire-and-service shop on North High with the highest rating in the whole Clintonville field — a perfect 5.0 across 280 Google reviews. Fewer reviews than our #1, but nobody here is rated higher, and that deserves saying plainly.
On Olentangy River Road across from the west-side ravines, Premier pairs tires with general repair at a 4.8 rating over 173 reviews — the handiest option for drivers on the river side of the neighborhood.
Tucked off West Lakeview on the south end of Clintonville, John’s Auto is the closest full-service independent for drivers down toward Old North Columbus and the university side, with a 4.5 rating across 156 reviews.
A small Indianola Avenue shop sitting right in Central Clintonville with a 4.9 rating across 82 reviews. Smaller book of business than the shops above it, but the people who use it rate it near-perfectly.
How the field compares
Northmoor sits inside a tight cluster of good shops, so distance barely separates them — the five here are all within about a mile and a half. McQueen Tire is closest and rated a perfect 5.0 across 280 reviews, and it’s a genuinely strong pick. C.A.R.S. takes the top spot on the wider record: 390 Google reviews, the largest in the Clintonville area, six decades in the same neighborhood, AAA approval since 1981, NAPA AutoCare Gold and a 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty none of the others match.
