About Solano Way Auto Repair
Solano Way Auto Repair is a family-owned, fully-certified auto shop in Concord with a 4.9 rating across more than 300 Google reviews. It won’t claim to be the biggest shop in town — a couple of Concord shops carry more reviews, and we say so below. What Solano offers instead is the thing the big, high-volume shops can’t: one-on-one, know-your-name service. Reviewers with 20-year histories mention the same things — the team explains repairs so a non-mechanic actually understands them, and nobody gets rushed through like a ticket number.
On credentials, it’s as complete as any shop in Concord: ASE Certified technicians, a licensed California Smog Check station (CARB-compliant), and A/C service certified. The team handles brakes, steering and suspension, oil and preventative maintenance, check-engine and electrical diagnostics, radiator and cooling, tires, smog and A/C — on everyday cars, hybrids and fleets alike. In the interest of straight talk, Solano is upfront about what it doesn’t do: no ADAS calibration, transmission rebuilds, engine rebuilds, or trucks over half a ton.
Every visit comes with a detailed digital inspection — photos and a clear breakdown texted to you, so you approve or decline each item yourself. It’s built to be easy on your day, too: a courtesy shuttle, pick-up and drop-off, after-hours drop-off, financing through Affirm and Klarna, and a waiting room with WiFi (and, per more than one reviewer, fresh-baked cookies).
The community piece is real, not a bumper sticker: Solano is active in Concord Rotary and the Concord Chamber of Commerce, and gives back through Toys for Tots, Cars for Second Chance, and sock-and-underwear drives for neighbors in need. It’s the kind of local, invested shop you keep going back to.
Why we rank it #1 in Concord
We’ll be straight: Solano isn’t Concord’s highest-volume shop. Five Star Automotive (653 reviews) and Contra Costa Auto Service (582) both carry more, at the same strong ratings, and they’re excellent, genuinely local shops — we credit them below. We rank Solano #1 on a different, honest basis: it pairs a matching 4.9 rating with the most complete credential stack in town (ASE, a licensed California Smog Check station, A/C certified), a family-owned, one-on-one service style that the big high-volume shops can’t replicate, transparent digital inspections, and deep, verifiable community roots. For a Concord driver who wants a fully-certified shop that treats them like a neighbor rather than a number, Solano is our pick.

What customers say
“Solano Way Auto Repair is my go-to for any repairs needed on my car. I have been a satisfied customer for over 20 years. Ken Jr. and his crew are caring and trustworthy. They explain the recommended repairs in detail, but also in a way so that non-mechanics can understand. Simply put, they are GOOD, HONEST mechanics.”
“I would highly recommend Solano Way Auto Repair for your mechanical issues. I've gone to a lot of different auto repair shops and this is by far the most reliable shop. Their professionalism and how they handle the customers is beyond words. And I like the fact that they are a family owned business. 5 Stars all the way around.”
“The staff was super friendly and efficient. They were thorough and sent a detailed explanation of everything they did and an estimate for any of the things that could use some improvement. They had fresh baked cookies in the little office and left a thank you candy in my daughter's car!”
“I had a great experience getting my car serviced here. The team was very helpful, honest, and friendly throughout the entire process. Adam kept me updated every step of the way, which I really appreciated. It's hard to find service like this these days. I highly recommend them! I'll definitely be coming back and won't be taking my car anywhere else!”
