About Chrome Auto Repair
Chrome Auto Repair opened in 2020 on South Amherst Highway, the road that runs from Amherst down through Madison Heights to the James River. Owner Jeffrey Eddy brought more than twenty-five years in the trade to it, and the shop has since built the largest review profile of any independent garage in Amherst County — 4.7 stars across 339 Google reviews. It’s a family-run operation, and the reviews name the same people over and over: Jeff at the counter, Autumn running the desk, Corey in the back.
The work covers general and major repair, engine diagnostics, electrical, steering and suspension, undercarriage, transmissions and exhaust, tires and Virginia state inspections — a wider service list than most shops this size, and wider than several of the tire-first competitors nearby. They’re an ASE-certified shop working with BG Products, Falken tires and O’Reilly parts, and they carry a BBB profile.
What comes up repeatedly in customer reviews is how they handle the logistics. Customers describe financing options for larger repairs, digital inspection reports with photos texted out before work is approved, drop-off and pick-up arrangements, and paying online. One out-of-state family used it to get their daughter’s brakes fixed while she was away at Liberty University, handling the whole job by text and phone. Another reviewer had the owner talk him out of a repair and point him toward a cheaper key-fob fix that saved a couple hundred dollars.
It’s a shop with a personality. There’s coffee, free drinks and snacks in the waiting room, a shop cat with a following on their Facebook page, and a green-and-black #55 race car the team sponsors and turns up with at local events.
Why Chrome ranks #1 in Madison Heights
The definitive #1 for three reasons
1. The largest review profile in the county. 339 Google reviews at 4.7 — ahead of every other independent shop in Madison Heights, including Advantage Tire’s 288 and well clear of the rest of the field at 102, 87 and 49. 2. The widest service list among them. Transmissions, exhaust, electrical, engine diagnostics and Virginia state inspections under one roof, where several nearby competitors are tire-and-brake first. 3. It removes the friction. Customers consistently describe financing for bigger repairs, photo inspection reports sent before approval, drop-off and pick-up, and online payment — the reason out-of-town families trust it with a student’s car at Liberty University.
