About Pitts Automotive
Chad and Maggie Pitts opened Pitts Automotive on July 2, 2012, on Hargrove Road East, about half a mile off McFarland Boulevard in Tuscaloosa. It is still the family’s shop. In 2018 they bought the neighboring carwash property and expanded the front of the building, adding parking and service bays, and today a team of eight handles diagnostics, maintenance, engine work, brakes, steering and suspension, alignments, tires, check engine lights, electrical work and heating and A/C.
The credential that sets Pitts apart is the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence, the Automotive Service Excellence program’s top recognition for a repair business, which requires a heavily ASE-certified technician staff. ASE’s own locator lists exactly two Blue Seal shops in Alabama: Pitts Automotive in Tuscaloosa and one shop in Dothan. “Excellent staff and service. They will make sure to have your car in and out! I needed to get my sunroof seal replaced in my 4Runner. I took it in yesterday morning and had it back today by noon. I was in communication with Toyota as well. Toyota was trying to tell me I needed the glass replaced too which was going to cost $1k more, making it in the upper $2,000s…Pitts said that was not necessary, and ended up spending less than the estimate I was originally given from them!”
